What a cracking film. Really, it's marvellous. The plot is as twisted and surreal as only a Burton film can be, and the cast are thoroughly convincing and likeable (or not, depending on character).
A newly-dead couple have their house taken over by dreadful middle-class yuppies and their hilarious goth-child Winona Rider. In order to spook the intruders into leaving, Beetlejuice, the infallible Michael Keaton, is summoned to leer and disgust and generally be revolting. 10 out of 10 for originality, dialogue and general fantasticness, but the actual DVD is a bit of a let-down.
Where are the extras? Anyone? The amazing 80's special effects deserve an entire DVD to themselves, the cast don't even get a look-in and the weird and somewhat pointless double-sided disc makes it look like a dodgy pirate copy from someone's car boot. There isn't even an inlay, for goodness sake. Sigh.

Tim Burton has done it again and produced another masterpiece. I know that Beetlejuice was released quite a few years ago, but this is the first time in recent years that I have had the chance to watch it. When I was younger I couldn't appricate what is simply a stunning and original film. Many of my all time fravourite films such as The Nightmare Before Christmas were directed by him. Beetlejuice tells the story of a couple who die in a car accident only to return to there home to discover that same fact. They must adapt to there new existance while attempting to 'scare' away the new occupients of there home. But without much help from the afterlife care they decide - against all advice - to enlist the help of Beetlejuice and chaos erupts. I know that by todays standards the special effects are showing there age and it does look quite 'plasticseany' in places. But it doesn't matter as the plot and acting are perfect. Bettlejuice is also extremly funny throughout. All these factors make it an brillient film which is a must see that can be watched over and over again. I like original ideas that are done to prefection unlike todays productions which are spitting out remakes left, right and centre.

Its been a few years between seeing the film and being given it, all I remembered was that it was one of the funniest films I'd seen and I'd wanted to watch it again. I was so happy to be given this film and when i watched it again I fell in love with it all over again. I've grown up with the amazing feats of CGI technology but I love even the plasticiny quality of the film, who needs mindblowing effects when you have a great storyline, cast and one of the best directors around. I love Tim Burton's work and this definitely does not fail to be a great film, the humour is consistent throughout, and I adore Winona Rider's goth. A must see film for everyone.

Keaton steals the show as the title character in this off the wall comedy from director Burton. Baldwin and Davis are two new ghosts who try to scare new occupants of their home out, with the help of "bio exorcist" Keaton. Won a much deserved Oscar for its make up effects.
